LIMA, Ohio – After suffering a two-point loss to Northwestern Ohio at the Student Center last November, the Davenport men's basketball team returned the favor on the Racers floor after a season-high 12 three-point field goals led by JaVontae Ford's four lifted the 13th-ranked Panthers to an 83-67 win Wednesday night. The Panthers get back into the win column and improve to 17-4 overall, 10-3 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.

Ford finished the day with a team-most 20 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Kevin Rich tallied 14 points, Nick Gamble added 13 and Mike Betcher had 11 points, including three of the dozen 3-pointers, to round out the Panthers in double figures.

Davenport combined for a 48.4 percentage from the floor while holding the Racers (13-6, 9-4 WHAC) 40 percent.  Derrick Tate also matched Ford's 20 points to lead the Racers.

After the Racers took a 4-3 lead to start the game, Dawid Czerniawski's jumper would begin a 17-4 run to build a 20-10 lead at the 13:41 mark. Ford and Betcher would go back-to-back from beyond the arc to keep the run alive midway through.

The Panthers would lead as many as 17, when Rich's field goal at 1:34 gave his team a 45-28.

DU went into intermission leading 47-30. While shooting 55.9 percent from the floor in the opening period, the Panthers connected seven from 3-point land. Coming off the bench, Rich led the way with 10 points.

Davenport went back to work to start the second half, igniting a 13-2 run to bump the score to 60-36. After Ford's jumper with 11:12 left gave the Panthers their largest lead in the game at 25 (66-44), the Racers tried to fight back and was able to cut the lead down to with 2:54 left.

After playing the last two games in the state of Ohio, the Panthers return to the Student Center to welcome first-place and sixth-ranked Cornerstone for the NAIA Game of the Week Saturday at 3 p.m. Davenport held on to beat the Golden Eagles 81-80 in their last meeting back in November.
