GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The 3-0 start by the men's soccer team is the best in school history so far and to extend that feat, the Panthers will have to take out some of the best in the country as they head to Indiana Wesleyan for a pair of games this weekend. Friday sees DU face perennial NAIA power and No. 9 ranked University of Rio Grande and Saturday pits the Panthers against the host Wildcats who are receiving votes in the latest Top-25 poll. Scouting #9 Rio Grande – 2-0-0, 0-0-0 Mid-South– Head coach Scott Morrissey (25th season)
Rio Grande is one of the elite programs in the NAIA having won the national championship in 2003 as well as a national runner-up in 2008 to go along with a total of six trips to at least the Elite Eight. Veteran head coach Scott Morrissey and his Red Storm are no different in 2013 as they come into the week ranked No. 9 in the Top-25 poll and boast a 2-0 record including a win over the host of the weekend, Indiana Wesleyan. Luiz Fiho has the team lead with three goals while Maximilano has two with three others going for one each.

The Wildcats enter their own tournament with a 2-1 overall record and they have already defeated fellow WHAC school Cornerstone University 2-0 in the season opener. The reigning Crossroads League champions have dropped only one match, a 1-0 setback to No. 9 Rio Grande. IWU is led on offense by Sam Kane with a pair of goals and Geoff Bowman has matched him through three contests. Zach Hammon has received the majority of the minutes in net as he has one shutout on his own and one combined.
