GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Getting back to dual matches after hosting the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional last weekend, the Davenport Men's Tennis team posted an impressive 6-3 win over NCAA DII and GLIAC foe Lake Superior State University. The win lifts the Panthers to 2-0 on the season as they will meet the Lakers again next Saturday as well as the Scots of Alma College in Alma.
Davenport picked up a nice 6-3 win over an NCAA DII foe on Sunday at home as they won the doubles format 2-1 and singles 4-2 against Lake Superior State University.
The Panthers got doubles wins from Matheus Moreira de Carvalho/Sam Rogerson as they continued their outstanding play as a team as well as Juan-Philip van Antwerpen and Christian Woods who won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Turning to singles, Woods, van Antwerpen and Carvalho all collected wins as Woods came back from a set down to win 2-6, 6-3, 10-6 at No. 1 singles. Also posting a win was Zac Chambers at No. 5 – 6-0, 6-4.
Davenport will meet LSSU again next weekend as they will play at a neutral site at Alma College. The Panthers will also face the host Scots.
