GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Coming off a thrilling 4-0 shutout victory at No. 3 Spring Arbor in the season-opener last Wednesday, the No. 21 Davenport women's soccer team will look to keep the momentum going this week as it heads south to continue facing top 15 opponents this week. The Panthers will stop by Columbia, Ky., to play the defending NAIA champion and currently top ranked Lindsey Wilson Monday followed by a return trip to Pulaski, Tenn., to face No. 12 Martin Methodist Wednesday.

Scouting Lindsey Wilson – 0-0-0, 0-0-0 Mid-South – Head coach Drew Burwash (11th season)
Lindsey Wilson, which captured its third national championship last season, begins its title defense Monday against Davenport. Despite losing the NAIA National Player of the Year Mia Persson to graduation, the Blue Raiders still return four All-Americans. Elizabet Madjarac and Renee Hurd garnered first team honors, Natasha Gensetter landed on the second team list and Laerke Lillelund Michaelsen rounded out the list with an honorable mention. Along with being the top ranked team in the nation, Lindsey Wilson was unanimously voted to win the Mid-South Conference thi season.
Scouting Martin Methodist – 1-0-0, 0-0-0 Southern States – Head coach Tyson Johnson (Third season)
Martin Methodist kicked off its 2013 season last Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Campbellsville University (Ky.) Saturday afternoon in Pulaski, Tenn. Taylor Samsel scored a pair of goals and Jennifer Loewen knocked in the third. The Redhawks has a new look in their roster compared to what Davenport faced a year ago. Loewen was moved up front from midway through the 2012 season while adding Lauren Badalamente to the mix. Badalamente is a native of Woodhaven, Mich., who transferred to Martin Methodist from Schoolcraft College. The Redhawks also went through a facelift in the goalkeeping department, adding Aisling Dyer and Jhani Williams into the back.
