Women’s Tennis Continues to Roll on Spring Break Trip

Concordia Box | Warner Box | Augustana Box

KISSIMEE, Fla. – The Davenport women's tennis team continues to display why they are one of the elite teams in the country as they picked up wins seven, eight and nine on Monday and Tuesday. DU posted a sweep of Concordia-Moorhead on Monday before defeating Warner and Augustana yesterday. The Lady Panthers, now 9-3 on the year and winners of their last seven matches, will conclude the week on Friday when they take on Mount St. Mary's (Md.).

Concordia-Moorhead – Def. 9-0

Davenport displayed its full arsenal of weapons while being able to sit out their top singles player and still win 9-0 over their competitor. The team won the doubles portion by a combined score of 24-6 and then dropped only 0 games in singles play.

Angelica Woods swept her match at No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-0) while Emily Spiech and Marcie Kooyers each only dropped one game in their wins.

Warner – Def. 8-1

In a match that lasted two days thanks to some rain that moved in right at the start of the singles play, DU overcame the Royals to post an impressive win over their SUN conference foe. DU did get three un-finished match wins as Warner only had four players.

Spiech joined Kristi Kuzdal and Angelica Woods in picking up wins in singles.

Augustana – Def. 5-2

In a match that featured one unfinished match as well as a tie after the overall match had already been decided, DU picked up its ninth win of the year 5-2 over the NCAA DIII school from Illinois.

Alyssa Fuentes and Spiech teamed at No. 1 doubles to win 9-8 (6) whole Woods and Katie VanDerLaan won at No. 3 doubles 8-6. DU then picked up wins at No. 2 (Kuzdal), No. 3 (Kooyers) and No. 6 (Savannah Smith) to finish off the match.
