GRANDRAPIDS, Mich. – Chris Green saw early initiative from Bryon Guerin in the first period with a power-play goal that helped bring the Panthers to control the important beginnings to this game and the only goal in period one. Kelly and Sund gave DU a 3-0 lead in the second but Farmingdale capitalized on two themselves making it a one goal game. Before the final minute of period two was up Burton would score a second Panther power-play goal and give his team a 4-2 lead going into the third. Martin got the fifth Panther goal halfway through period three and Guerin followed up two minutes later with his second of the day. Sund would give DU its seventh and final goal of the game.

Davenport was looking for their second home win of the weekend when they met the Farmingdale State Rams on the ice today at Patterson and the first period was a great beginning to their search. Despite this being their third game of the weekend, all corners of the Panther squad came out ready. While on a power-play nine minutes into period one Bryon Guerin took leadership and gave DU the early 1-0 lead they needed. The Rams managed to only get four shots off on Cruse which he handled like a veteran.

Dugan Kelley and Patrick Martin teamed up on a sweet goal less than three minutes into the second period and it wouldn't take long for another DU player to strike. Two minutes later Jake Otto would fly down the ice, matching Donald Sunds incredible speed, and slip a picture-perfect pass to Sund who had no trouble getting it passed Austin Liddycoat who was in net for the Rams and taking a commanding 3-0 lead. The Rams put themselves on the map with a goal 13 minutes into period two and another one with one minute to play. The one goal game did not last long when Branden Burton got another power-play goal for DU twelve seconds later for a score of 4-2 at the end of the second.

Both teams fought for control in the first half of the third but neither team could find the enemy net. This is until Martin brought the heat with a goal with nine to go. Bryon Guerin scored his second of the two minutes later with a sick stick move in front of the net that put his team up 6-2. Sund also didn't stop after just one goal and captured another with five to play with the help of Willis Gelow. The Panthers held control for the remainder of the game

The Panthers have one more home-and-home series in 2013 and Green wants a sweep to finish the year against Aquinas next weekend starting at Patterson on Friday at 8:20 p.m. The following day they head to Aquinas to finish up the series at their home-rink which starts at 5:25 p.m. DU has plenty of time after that to get some rest and relaxation before they take on 2014, several conference games, the national tournament, and the much anticipated return of a few key players including the all-time career goal leader and five year Veteran Jordan Steger .
