Men’s Rugby Goes 2-1 at Arkansas State 7s Invitational

Score: DU had a record of 2-1 in three games
 
STATE UNIVERSITY, Ark. – After concluding their 15s fall schedule the men's rugby team went down to Arkansas to play in three 7s matches. The Panthers had tough competition, as they played Oklahoma, Lindenwood, and host Arkansas State. DU went 2-1 in the invitational as they beat Lindenwood and Oklahoma, and dropped their only game to Arkansas State. DU will now head into the winter as they get ready for the their spring schedule in the Mid-South Conference.
 
DU opened the day as they faced off against Lindenwood, who beat Davenport in the Notre Dame 7s Invitational finals. Davenport got their revenge as they took down the Lindenwood Lions 24-14 to start the day 1-0. Next up for the Panthers was Oklahoma and DU came out strong as they finished the game off with a 35-14 win.
 
To closeout the day DU faced the number one team in the country, in the Rugby Magazine 7s Rankings and host, Arkansas State. The Panthers were looking to finish of the day undefeated, but the Red Wolves of Arkansas State stood firmly in their way as the Red Wolves came away with a 31-7 win.
 
Davenport concluded the day 2-1 coming away with key wins as they look to get an at-large bid to the national championship in Greensboro, N.C.
 
The Panthers will head into the winter prepping for their spring season in the Mid-South Conference as they some of the stiffest competition in the country in defending champion Life, Arkansas State, and rugby D1A newcomer Lindenwood.
