DETROIT, Mich. – Alex Law and Alison Bouman both had 16 points to lead six Panthers in double figures as the No. 2 Davenport women's basketball team began its Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference title defense with a 110-59 win over Marygrove Saturday afternoon.
 
Tiesha Stokes had 12 points, Kia Frazier and Brittany Johnson both added 11 and freshman Kelcie Haizlip earned 10 to round out the Panthers who recorded double digits. The Panthers also combined for a season-best 56 percent from the field. Davenport also shot 35 percent from 3-point range with Law connecting four.
 
Bouman continues to lead the Panthers in the rebound department, having brought down nine. Kristina Cousins, who recorded a season-high seven points, set career milestones with seven rebounds and assists each.
 
After two lead changes in the first minute of play, Frazier led the Panthers to a 6-2 run to take an 11-6 lead with 15:50 left. Although a small Marygrove momentum brought cut its deficit to five at the 12:29 mark, Davenport would take control the rest of the first half to build a 37-20 lead with 8:10.

The Panthers went into the locker room with a commanding 59-32 lead. Bouman led the way with 14 points and not too far from her were Law with 11, Stokes with 10.
 
Davenport would outscore Marygrove by a large margin again in the second period, going 51-27. Haizlip posted 10 points in the second half to lead the Panthers.
 
Before it opens the DU Student Center next Saturday, Davenport makes a short drive down the Beltline to face crosstown rival Cornerstone Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
 
Post-Match Notes
Davenport improves to 8-0 in the all-time series with Marygrove…The Panthers reached the 100-point barrier for the first time since Feb. 16, 2013, when they crushed Indiana Tech 102-64…Davenport's bench outscored Marygrove's 52-18.
