GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Chantal Caraher continues to record firsts in the Davenport women's hockey program. Last Friday she scored the school's first goal, and one week later, she scored not once, not twice, but three times for the first hat trick in the Panthers 5-3 home loss to Adrian. The Panthers, who fall to 0-3, will play their first game away from Patterson Ice Center as the series shifts over to the Bulldogs campus Saturday at 3 p.m.

After making 35 saves last Sunday, Lauren Yomantas broke that mark with 37 tonight against the Bulldogs.

Davenport missed several opportunities during the power play, going 0-for-7 on the evening including two 5-on-3 advantages. The Bulldogs went 0-for-3 on the power play.

After Adrian killed its second penalty, it quickly got on the board with a goal by Jessica Rushing at 9:16. After receiving a pass from Amanda Antos, Rushing took a shot from the right side of the crease. Although her shot deflected off Yomantas, her second shot slid into the goal.

The lead did not last long as Caraher tied the game at 6:39. Darian Adams connected to Caraher on the left side where her shot beat Emily Michelin.

Adrian went into the first power play at 17:46 only to see that opportunity disappear just over a minute later. During the 4-on-4 penalty, the Bulldogs broke the 1-1 tie with a goal by Nichole Laflamme.

Caraher came close to tallying her second goal of the game with 1:30 left. The speedy freshman moved the puck deep into the Bulldogs zone only to collapse with Michelin, who was trying to break the rhythm. Adrian would clear the puck from its zone.

The Bulldogs got one goal in just before second intermission. With 15 seconds left, Morgan Poole took a shot but was blocked by Yomantas. However, Jessica Fabbro skated her way to the loose and took the shot before losing her balance and sliding into the crease for the third goal.

Davenport cut the Bulldogs lead in half at 15:30 in the third period. Lexie Boydston sent the puck into a crowded goal crease but Caraher was able to get it into the goal.

Adrian regained the three-point lead on Fabbro's second goal of the night.

Caraher completed the hat trick with 1:43 left in the game. Right after a faceoff on the right side, the loose puck rolled toward center ice where Caraher flicked it over Michelin's shoulder.

Davenport recorded its first multi-goal game.
