GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – For the first time in 2013, the men's soccer team will play in front of their home crowd and fans as they will host Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday. The Panthers and Wolverines enter as the last two teams in the conference without a loss as Davenport picked up road wins at Lawrence Tech and Madonna last week while Dearborn defeated Cornerstone. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. kick and will broadcast live on the Davenport Athletics Network.

The Wolverines picked up the most surprising win of the season to date in WHAC play as they posted a 1-0 shutout of 2-time reigning conference champion Cornerstone University in their league opener. Head coach Michael Hatfield and his team started out the season 3-0 with big wins over Cleary, Georgetown and Mid-Continent but has stumbled as of late dropping four of their last five matches. The Wolverines are led by Damjan Stamenkovik and Iris Mesic who have each posted four goals on the season. In net, UMD is anchored by reigning WHAC Defensive Player of the Week Andrew Pietrzak who has a GAA of 1.22.

Scouting Siena Heights (Mich.) – 5-4-1, 2-1-0 WHAC – Head coach Aldo Zid (24th season)
Veteran head coach Aldo Zid, now in his 24th season, has the Saints 2-1 in league play and 5-4-1 overall coming into the week in which they will play Davenport as well as Cornerstone. Zid has turned to Collin McLaughlin most of the season for the offense as he has posted a team leading six goals while the Saints have scored just 11 total. In net, the Saints have been led by a combination of Brandon Gonzales and Lucas Sagaert who have posted a 1.20 and 1.38 GAA while coming up with 42 saves.
