GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Coming off a 79-40 victory at UM-Dearborn Wednesday, the fifth-ranked Davenport women's basketball team makes a brief return to the Student Center Saturday to play a Battle of the Beltline game against Aquinas. As part of a doubleheader, the women's teams will start the day with a 1 p.m. tip and the men will follow at approximately 3 p.m.
The Lady Panthers, 8-0 in Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference play, remain a half game behind Concordia, which they will meet Wednesday in Ann Arbor.
Davenport got off to a slow start in its game against UM-Dearborn, but a 15-0 run midway through the first half was enough to build a comfortable deficit. The Panther bench, led by freshman

Alison Bouman, continues to be major contributors in a game, as they combined for 34 points against the Wolves.
Under 17-year head coach Linda Nash, Aquinas at won five straight contests before have recently dropped the last two. Its latest loss was to Beltline rival Cornerstone Wednesday. Clare Conway had 14 points and eight rebounds but it wasn't enough as the Saints lost by the score of 81-69 to the Golden Eagles. Allison Heberlein paces the Saints with 16.8 points per game this season while Shelby Carter leads the team in the rebounding category, averaging 6.3 per contest.
