GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The men's soccer team will conclude it four-match home stand this week with a pair of league contests vs. Lawrence Tech on Wednesday and Siena Heights on Saturday. The Blue Devils are a newcomer to the league this season while the Saints are the team who knocked DU from the WHAC tourney a year ago. Wednesday's game vs. LTU is scheduled for a 7pm kickoff and the Saturday contest vs. SHU will start at 4pm.
Davenport opened league play last Saturday with a tough 1-0 setback to Indiana Tech and head coach
Chris Hughes and his team looks to get their first win in the WHAC this week. The Panthers are currently 4-4-0 on the year and 0-1-0 in league action.
A Look at Lawrence Tech
The Blue Devils, who joined the WHAC this past summer, are having a slow start to their men's soccer program as they are just 1-7-0 coming into tonight's matchup. Lawrence Tech won their first match of the season but has since lost seven in a row including a 2-1 setback to Marygrove in the league opener Saturday. Will Dyer is in his fourth season as the head coach as the Blue Devils competed as a club team the past three years.
Scouting Siena Heights
The Saints enter this week with an overall mark of 2-3-2 as they opened WHAC play on Saturday with a 1-1 draw against Madonna University. Siena Heights is led by head coach Aldo Zid and he led them to a 1-2-1 finish in non-conference matches against teams from the Crossroads League before starting league play.
Davenport is looking at getting back on the winning track as they saw a 3-match winning streak come to halt on Saturday when Indiana Tech handed them a 1-0 loss. The Panthers allowed just one shot on goal but it was the only one that went in for either team that night as DU fell by the slimmest of margins.
