Weekly Notes | Live Video Broadcast

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – League plays kicks off this week for the men's soccer team as they host a pair of games on Tuesday vs. non-league foe Illinois Tech and on Saturday when they welcome in Indiana Tech for their WHAC opener. Both games are scheduled for a 7:00pm kickoff as Davenport brings in a 3-3-0 overall record and a 2-match winning streak. Both games will be broadcast live on the Davenport Athletics Network.

Davenport enters the week where they will play their last non-conference game of the year and their first WHAC game as well.  Ironically, they come against both technical schools on their schedule in Illinois and Indiana Tech. Davenport will have not played a game in 10 days when the Panthers host the Scarlet Hawks on Tuesday. The Panthers last saw the field when they defeated Olivet Nazarene on September 8 at the Mount Vernon Nazarene Tournament.

A look at Illinois Tech
Davenport's last non-conference match of the season comes against their third straight opponents out of the CCAC as they welcome Illinois Tech to the Turf Field on Tuesday at 7pm. The Scarlet Hawks have an identical 3-3-0 overall record as DU and they are 0-2 in road games so far in 2012.  Most recently, Tech defeated Madonna University 3-2 and they also have a win over Concordia University from the WHAC as well.

Liam Barret and Robert Rixer each have posted three goals on the season with Barret leading the team in points with nine as he also has three assists. Two goalies have split time with Casey Krapfl owning a 2-1 record to go along with 13 saves and a .765 save percentage

WHAC foe Indiana Tech
Davenport and Indiana Tech have built quite the rivalry over the last few years as the series is tied 2-2-1 since the beginning of 2009 with DU holding a 6-5 edge in goals scored. Last season, Davenport and Tech finished in a 1-1 tie in their only meeting of 2011. Tech's most recent match was against Olivet Nazarene just like Davenport but the Warriors were handed a 2-1 loss by the Tigers.

Aultain Gaye leads the Warriors with three goals and eight points while Zachary St. Aubin is second on the team with 17 shots. Tech has had only one goalkeeper play so far in 2012 as Reece Richardson is 4-2-0 while posting 17 saves and a .810 save percentage.
The Panthers are 4-2 all-time in WHAC openers and 5-1 in WHAC home openers.
