ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Panther baseball team took a day one split with the Cardinals of Concordia University this afternoon.  Davenport won game one 9-4 on the strength of Jotham Woo's bat and then fell in game two 6-4 when as a team the Panthers bats went cold.

Game One

Jotham Woo paced the Panthers in game one going 4 for 4 at the plate, scored two runs and had five RBI.  Four of Woo's RBI came on a fifth inning grand slam that gave Davenport a seven run lead and broke the game open.  Brandon Bongard also produced going 2 for 5 and scored twice, as did Eric Cummings who went 1 for 3, scored once and had two RBI.

Jordan Anderson earned the start and the win on a solid five innings of work.  Anderson gave up one run on six hits, three bases on balls, and struck out three Cardinal batters.  Chad Detwiler also pitched well in relief for the Panthers going three innings giving up two runs on five hits, one walk, and struck out two.  Ryan Butzer also saw action for Davenport today pitching in the ninth inning.  Butzer gave up a run on two hits with no walks and no strike outs.

Game Two

The Panthers were not as productive offensively in game two as they only had nine hits in the game.  Jotham Woo continued to impress going 2 for 3, scored twice and had one RBI.  The RBI came on an absolute rocket of a solo homerun, his second homerun on the day.  Brandon Bongard continued to get on base as he went 2 for 4 in game two, but was unable to drive anyone home or have someone drive him in when he got on base.

Drew Sain earned the start in game two and pitched well despite giving up five runs as only one run was earned.  The Panthers committed three errors behind Sain today as he went four and a third innings giving up the five runs on six hits, walked three, and struck out four.  Corey Anderson and Ryan Butzer pitched in relief with Anderson going one and two-thirds giving up one run on four hits while striking out two.  Butzer set the Cardinals down in order in the seventh giving up no hits, no walks and didn't have a strike out.
