Women's Tennis Advances to WHAC Championship; Defeats Cornerstone 5-0

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport made light work of Cornerstone as they advanced to the WHAC championship match. The Panthers swept the doubles matches and quickly won two singles matches before the match was called.
It was a short afternoon for Davenport as they defeated Cornerstone 5-0 in the WHAC semi-final match. The Panthers began the day by taking a 3-0 lead after the doubles matches. The doubles pairs of Denisse and
Diana Favela, Kuzdal/Vanderlaan, and Todd/woods each won their matches while dropping only one game.
Soon thereafter the first four single matches began.
Kristi Kuzdal gave Davenport their first point in singles winning the No.3 singles match 6-0, 6-0. A few moments later
Diana Favela ended the day for the Panthers by winning the No.1 singles match 6-3, 6-0. Since Davenport had clinched the team match by going up 5-0 all of the other matches were not finished. When the match was called
Denisse Favela was leading the No.2 singles match 6-1, 5-1 and
Angelica Woods was leading the No.4 match 4-2.
Davenport will face Northwestern Ohio tomorrow in the Championship match at Orchard Hills. The Panthers defeated the Racers 6-3 in their only meeting of the regular season.
