GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- Davenport women's tennis team avenged last year's 5-4 heart breaking loss to Calvin College on Friday night. The Panthers defeated Calvin 7-2 as they improved to 12-5 on the season.

Davenport jumped out to a 2-1 lead after completing the doubles matches. Denisse and Diana Favela won the No. 1 doubles match 8-2 while Kristi Kuzdal and Stephanie Fortney won the No.2 doubles match 8-3.

The Panthers maintained their high level of play as they entered the singles matches. Davenport got wins in the top five single matches. Diana Favela and Angelica woods each dominated their matches as they both won 6-0, 6-0.

Davenport is now 12-5 on the year and will be back in action next weekend against the University of Saint Francis.

Post-Game Quotes Assistant Coach Amy Ingle

"The girls started off strong in doubles play after coming off a tough loss against Hope. They carried the momentum through to singles and played with confidence. The Calvin girls gave it all they had but our girls pulled out the big points when we needed them most."
