Lady Panthers Defeat Alma 8-1 in First Match of Spring Slate
ALMA, Mich. - The No. 26 ranked Lady Panthers tennis team came away with an impressive 8-1 win at Alma College today to open the spring season. DU will be in action next Sunday at Albion College before they head to Florida for their annual spring break trip.
Davenport got off to a great start in their spring season today as they posted a convincing 8-1 win over MIAA foe Alma College. The Lady Panthers started with a sweep in the doubles portion as
Stephanie Fortney and
Angelica Woods posted the biggest win at 8-2.
On the singles side, Davenport finished with 5 wins in the 6 matches. The got their wins #1-#5.
Diana Favela opened up at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-1 win which was matched by her sister
Denisse Favela.
Stephanie Fortney picked up her first win of the 2011-12 campaign after not playing in the fall. The senior won in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. Other winners were
Kristi Kuzdal and
Angelica Woods.
DU will take on the Brits next Sunday at 10:00am.
