BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - After posting their first win ever over an NCAA DII program last week against Lake Superior State, the men's tennis team returned to the court tonight at Ferris State but was unable to come away with a victory in any of the nine matches. DU also competed in the West Michigan Indoor Tournament this past weekend as they will now turn their attention to their spring break trip to Florida.
The DU men's tennis program continues to grow with clutch wins such as the victory over Lake State last week, but also with some learning losses as in their 9-0 setback to Ferris State on Tuesday evening.
After a successful weekend that saw many solid finishes in the West Michigan Indoor Tournament, the Panthers traveled to Big Rapids where they were beaten in all nine matches in singles and doubles by the Bulldogs. The closest DU came to a point was at No. 1 doubles from the team of
Vitaly Shumilov and
Eric Pell who dropped an 8-6 decision.
All 6 singles matches were decided in straight sets against the Bulldogs who finished in a tie for second among the 10 schools who sponsor the sport in the GLIAC in the spring of 2011.
DU will next be in action in the sunshine state as they head south for spring break. DU will play five matches from February 27 through March 3.
