Defense the Key in 75-46 Victory over Northwestern Ohio

LIMA, Ohio – Starting the first of three straight road games, No. 3 Davenport was able to pick up a key victory over No. RV Northwestern Ohio 75-46. Three Panthers scored in double digits as Davenport scored 34 points off UNOH miscues to improve to 24-4 overall and 14-2 in WHAC play.
Abbey Hengesbach was 9-10 from field and led all scorers with 19 points followed by
Karlee Despres (17) and
Carrie Grubius (11). Despres was one rebound short of a double-double with nine and
Abby Neff pulled down seven rebounds with four of those coming on the offensive end.
Defensive pressure was the story of the game as DU started out with full court pressure that forced many UNOH mistakes and held the host team to just 15 first half points and allowed only one UNOH player to score in double digits.
The Panthers only trailed once in the contest, coming in the first three minutes of the game, and extended their lead to as many as 38 in the second half.
On the day Davenport shot 45% from the field compared to UNOH's 29%.
Karli Harris finished the game with seven assists and six steals in route to DU's 75-46 victory.
Davenport will be back in action on Wednesday, February 15th when they travel across town to take on Aquinas College. Game time is set for 7:30pm and live audio can be heard on “The DAN”.
