The Opponent: #4 Briarcliffe

The Bulldogs posted a perfect record, and defeated the Coast Guard Academy in the PCLL finals to earn a spot in the2011 MCLA D2 National Tournament.

The meeting is the second time this season as the Bulldogs posted a 10-7 win over Davenport back on March 27.  That game was played at Briarcliffe and was part of a 2-game trip for the Panthers where they also defeated Grove City College.

Briarcliffe opened their national tournament with a convincing 21-14 win over Hope College while Davenport cruised to an easy 23-9 win over Utah Valley.  Wednesday's game will feature some highly anticipated offensive players that are in the tournament as BC has three players that have put up 50 or more points during the regular season.

Leading the way is senior Matt Karp as he leads the team with 35 goals to go along with 15 assists.  Second on the team in scoring is freshman Jonathon Trama who has 50 points as well (30 goals and 20 assists) and third is Jonathon Bonacore with 53 points. Each of the three had two goals and one assist when they two teams played in late March.

Kevin Collica will most likely get the start in net for BC as the junior got the win against DU by posting 12 saves and allowing only 7 goals. Collica has a GAA of 3.375 and has 82 saves on the year.

Briarcliffe as a team is great on defense as they have given up 10 goals or more only three times thus far which includes the 14 that CCLA foe Hope College put up against them in the opening round here in Denver.

The Series: Briarcliffe leads 1-0 (10-7 win on March 27, 2011)
