HOLLAND, Mich. - A slow start in doubles doomed the Lady Panthers on Thursday as they fell 6-3 to host Hope College. The Flying Dutch took all three doubles matches and then split the singles session to take the three point win. DU will take on Indiana Tech on Friday at MVP Sportsplex.
Hope took a commanding 3-0 lead after the first session of doubles play as they won two close matches at #1 and #2 by identical scores of 8-5. It marked only the second loss of the spring season for the team of
Diana Favela (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) and
Denisse Favela (San Luis Potosi, Mexico).
The singles session got off to a great start for DU as they took home three points with wins at #1 (
Diana Favela), #2 (
Denisse Favela) and #3
Stephanie Fortney (Allegan, Mich.) who won her match 6-0, 6-2.
Unfortunately, Davenport was unable to get two more points as they fell to 8-11 on the year with the loss. The Lady Panthers will host Indiana Tech on Friday.
