Davenport Ends Florida Trip with Three Straight Wins

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Lady Panthers completed their Florida trip with three straight victories over Grove City, Augustana, and Concordia College (Minn.) to improve to 5-7 on the season. Senior Heather Brusokas would finish 7-12 on the day with two triples and a home run.
In game one against Grove City, Davenport would jump on the board early scoring two runs in the first inning off a double from Brianna Carpenter (Irvine, Calif.). DU would then add runs in the third, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to complete the 6-3 victory over Grove City.
Sam Cole (Belleville, Mich.) would earn her second win of the year on the mound, with Heather Brusokas (Glendale, Calif.) finishing a perfect 4-4 from the plate with two triples and two stolen bases.
The DU bats would really start to come alive in game two against Augustana with the Panthers pushing across four runs in both the first and third innings. Nine different Panthers would garner hits in the game with Brusokas and Katie Cornman (Eastpointe, Mich.) each hitting home runs.
The Panthers would add a run in the top of the sixth inning to seal the 9-1 run rule victory and second on the day. Carpenter would earn her second win on the mound, giving up just one run on four hits.
At the start of game three against Concordia College (Minn.), DU would show no signs of tiredness scoring seven runs in the first inning. Davenport would then add two more in the second to increase their lead to the 9-0 and seal the five inning run rule victory to give DU their third straight victory.
Amber Getty (Wayland, Mich.), Morgan Greenfield (Wyoming, Mich.), and Debra Burton (Cassopolis, Mich.) would each finish with two hits in the game, with Greenfield hitting her first homerun on the season and finishing with four RBI's in the game.
Cole would record her second win of the day and third of the season to improve to 3-4 overall on the mound.
Davenport would complete play in the sunshine state today with three victories, twenty-four runs scored, thirty hits, and three homeruns.
