Davenport Women's Tennis Picks Up 7-2 Win Over Concordia
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Davenport Women's Tennis team picked up their second win in Florida by beating Concordia University (Minn.) 7-2. The Panthers will face Ave Maria University tomorrow morning and Palm Beach Atlantic University tomorrow evening.
In No. 1 doubles action,
Denisse Favela (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) and
Diana Favela (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) defeated Rognlien/Edin 8-3 to get the Panthers on the board. Davenport took their second doubles match when
Stephanie Fortney (Allegan, Mich.) and
Erin Hossack (Dearborn, Mich.) defeated their opponents 9-8.
Kristi Kuzdal (Grandville, Mich.) and
Kelly Todd (Grand Rapids, Mich.) lost their doubles match 8-9.
Davenport was able to pick up wins by each of their top 5 singles. After dropping the first set 4-6,
Diana Favela came back to win the last two 6-3, 6-0 in No. 1 Singles. Denise Favela,
Stephanie Fortney,
Kristi Kuzdal, and
Erin Hossack all won their singles matches in two sets. After winning the first set 6-4,
Kelly Todd dropped the next two 2-6, 2-6.
Davenport will meet Ave Maria University tomorrow at 11:30 AM and will take on Palm Beach Atlantic University tomorrow evening at 6:30 PM.
