SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - John Cruse stopped all eight shots that he faced as the netminder led Davenport to a convincing 5-0 win over host Dordt College in the Clash in the Corn tournament hosted in Sioux Center, Iowa.  DU is now 2-0 in the two games they have played and have outscored their opponents 15-0.

Mike Soto had a pair of goals while Tommy Barabe, Bryon Guerin and Chad Ouellette scored the others to lift the Panthers to 16-2 overall on the year.

Soto got the scoring going in the opening period at the 6:26 mark when he scored on an assist from Garrett Garber. That would be the lone goal in the first 20 minutes but the flood gates opened in the second on three consecutive goals in a 9:38 stretch from Barabe, Guerin and Ouellette to lift the Panthers to a commanding 4-0 lead.

The final goal was scored by Soto in the third on a power play with Chad Ouellette getting the helper.

Davenport returns to the ice today at 8:30am EST as they take on Colorado State.  The winner will play in the championship game tonight against either Nebraska or Iowa State.
