Balanced Effort Lifts Panthers to 4-2 Win over Concordia

Davenport gets four goals all from different players in third WHAC win

Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After falling behind 1-0 in the 25th minute, Davenport reeled off four of the next five goals to post a 4-2 win over Concordia University on Saturday evening at the DU Turf Field.  Chase Burgess finished with a goal and an assist as the Panthers remained on top of the WHAC standings with 10 points.

Davenport picked up their third win in four league games today with a solid 4-2 win over the visiting Cardinals from Concordia.  DU has one game in hand as they have a 10-9 point lead over Cornerstone with the two teams set to face off in the Panthers next conference game on Wednesday, October 26.

After CUAA got on the board in the 25th minute, Davenport struck back just 5:35 later when Stuart Collins notched his second goal of the season on a perfect pass from Richard Visser through the middle of the Concordia defense.  Jesse Asanin-Miroux then got a huge goal with onlu 0.9 seconds left in the opening half when his long cross sailed over the keeper's head to put DU up 2-1 at the break.

The offense continued in the second half for Davenport as they picked up two more goals from Chase Burgess on a header from Richard Visser and Jai Maw as well as a clean up goal from Carl Winterbottom in the 62nd minute.

Jordan Bandstra got the win in net for the Panthers improving to 2-2-1 on the year as the senior made one save on the two shots he faced.

The Panthers will now face McKendree and Columbia this weekend in a break from conference action...The win lifts Davenport to 12-1 all-time against the Cardinals...DU has scored four or more goals in three of their four league contests so far in 2011.
