Lady Panthers Fall 15-9 to Grand Valley

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport hosted their second to last game of the year today as they fell....to the Lakers of Grand Valley State. The loss drops the Lady Panthers to 4-10 on the year as they will close out the 2010 season with a home date against Calvin on April 7.
Having split on the final day of their 2nd annual home event, the Lady Panthers came in with some confidence and they jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead with #Valerie Carr# (Holt, Mich.) scored on an assist from #Jessica Talcott# (Ada, Mich.). GVSU came back with four straight goals to go up 4-1 with just over 20:00 to play in the thirty minute half.
Davenport then got two big goals from #Michon Moline# (Rockford, Mich.) to bring the Lady Panthers within one but that would be as close as they would get for the remainder of the game.
DU did get one more goal in the first half from #Alex Kuzma# (Hudsonville, Mich.) but the Lakers led 7-4.
The two teams traded goals in the opening four minutes of the second half with DU getting two from #Helena Stieg# (Reed City, Mich.). Unfortunately Grand Valley would then take full control of the game as they scored six of the next seven goals to take a 15-7 lead.
DU did not give up however as #Jessica Talcott#, #Michon Moline and Kendra Stieg# (Reed City, Mich.) each scored to bring the Panthers to within 15-9 and that would be how the game would finish with the Lakers earning their 4th win of the year to improve to 4-3.
Davenport (4-10) will close out their 2010 season on April 7 when they host Calvin College in a 5:30 pm faceoff.
