FORT MYERS, Fla. - Head Coach Chris Green led the D3 Hockey team to their first ever win at Nationals on Friday as the Panthers defeated Dordt College in the final game of pool play. Davenport, in only their second season as a program, finish with an overall record of 29-12.

After falling by one goal in each of their first two games (9-8 to Farmingdale and 4-3 to Florida Gulf Coast), the Panthers entered knowing that this would be the last game of the year and the team did not disappoint.

The Panthers came out hot in the first period scoring three power play goals and one at even strength. Credited with the goals were Zack Feher (Livonia, Mich.), Chad Ouellette (Windsor, Ont.), Sam Waldhart (Walker, Mich.), and Brandon Madaj (Newaygo, Mich.).

DU would enter the second period up 4-0 and the score would stay the same the same at the end of the second.

Davenport would add its final goal in the first thirty seconds of the third off the stick of Waldhart from Ouellette. Dordt would add a goal of their own to cut the lead to four but that would be all the scoring from them.

DU would defeat the the #4 seed in their pool Dordt College, and end their 2009-2010 season with a final record of 29-12. The Panthers gained a lot of experience in the tournament and will hope to make a return trip to Nationals in 2011.
