CLERMONT, Fla. - Davenport competed in three games today to complete their spring trip in Clermont, Fla. at the NTC Games. Davenport defeated Lake Superior State University 10-0 in 5 innings, Concordia (NY) 8-1, and then lost 8-4 to the University of Tampa.

In game one DU took on NCAA Division 2 Lake Superior State University. The Panthers used a 10 run 5th inning in the third to propel them to the 10-0 victory in 5 innings. The Panther offense capitalized on key Lakers mistakes in the inning along with timely hitting. Sandi Seaman (St. Claire Shores, Mich.) was 3-3 in the game and Heather Brusokas (Glendale, Calif.) was 2-2 with a triple and a walk.

Brianna Carpenter (Irvine, Calif.) picked up her 4th win on the mound giving up just two hits with six strikeouts and shutting out the Laker offense.

Game two the Panthers took on NCAA Division 2 University of Tampa. Tampa jumped out to an early lead in the first inning posting three runs before DU answered back with three in the fourth. Kristin Miedema (Newaygo, Mich.) led off the inning with a solo homerun to give DU their first run of the game. Kelsey Egyhazi (Mishawaka, Ind.) then reached base after being hit by a pitch followed by back to back doubles from Morgan Greenfield (Wyoming, Mich.) and Jessica Fagan (Spokane, Wash.) to tie the game up at 3-3.

Tampa would add three more runs in the fifth and then two more in the sixth to take a 8-3 lead. Davenport would push another run across in the seventh but it would not be enough as DU would suffer its second loss of the year 8-4.

In game three Davenport took on Concordia College of New York. The Panthers would strike first in the second inning pushing four runs across and then adding another three in the third to go up 7-1. DU would add another run in fifth to push the lead to 7 which would be the final score of 8-1.

Haley Stehouwer (Wyoming, Mich.), Molly Ketelaar (Allegan, Mich.), Ashlee Olsen (Rockford, Mich.), Nikki Aldrich (Robinson, Ill.), and Egyhazi would all have two hits in the game. Carpenter would earn her second win on the mound for the day and her fifth of the season.

Davenport is now 9-2 on the year and will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Ohio and Kentucky for doubleheaders against Shawnee State, Campbellsville, and Union (KY).
