Panthers Suffer 3-1 Road Loss Against Adrian
Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – After defeating Adrian in their opening game of the season the Panthers fell 3-1 on the road today. Davenport is now 13-6 on the year and remains 6-2 in MCHC play.
The first period of the game was devoted to defense for both teams. Davenport was held scoreless along with
Tim Davis (Grand Rapids, Mich.) shutting down the Adrian offense to end the period knotted at 0-0.
Forty seconds into the 2nd, Adrian would erase their zero on the scoreboard and take the 1-0 lead. The DU offense would again be shut down going into the third still scoreless and down 1-0.
After two periods of being held scoreless DU would finally get on the board and tie the game at 1-1 with a goal from
Sam Waldhart (Walker, Mich.), assisted by
Taylor Keyworth (Grand Rapids, Mich.). Adrian's offense would not be phased by the Panther goal adding two more goals of their own to earn the 3-1 victory.
The loss is their first on the road all season and sixth of the season. Davenport will be back in MCHC action next Friday and Saturday when they take on Saginaw Valley State for a home/away weekend. Friday's game at Patterson Ice Center is slated for a 8:00pm start and can be heard on the Davenport Athletics Network.
