Huge Second Half Lifts Lady Panthers Lax to 10-9 Win over Grand Valley

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Seven second half goals lifted the Lady Panthers Lacrosse team into the Regional Tournament today with a 10-9 win over Grand Valley State. The victory is the 11th in a row for DU as they improve to 14-6 on the year.
In only their second season, the Davenport Women's Lacrosse team has qualified for the WCLL Regional Tournament as they posted an impressive 10-9 come from behind win today over rival Grand Valley State.
Davenport got off to a slow start as the Lakers scored the first goal of the game only to see DU come right back on a goal from Jamie VandeWinkle. GVSU then scored the next three goals of the game to take a 4-1 lead and eventually led 5-2 with just under two minutes to go in the opening half. Jessica Talcott though scored a big goal just before halftime to bring the score to 5-3 in favor of the Lakers.
The second half really saw the host Panthers come out strong as they six of the first seven goals to take a 9-6 lead with only 10:06 to play. Scoring for DU in that time span were Daniella Bugli (2), Kendra Stieg (2), Brittanie Bond and Talcott.
The Lakers would not go down without a fight though as they answered with three straight goals of their own but with only :43 seconds to play. Daniella Bugli scored from Bond to win the game 10-9.
Shaye Bradley was awesome in goal for DU as she posted 13 saves in the game with many of them coming on close shots.
DU improves to 14-6 on the year and will now travel to Toldeo, OH next weekend for the WCLL Regional Tournament.
