GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Playing their second consecutive home double-header, the Lady Panthers softball team posted 6-3 and 11-0 wins against Siena Heights. The sweep lifts DU to 18-17 on the year and they are now 3-9 in league play.

After throwing a no-hitter yesterday, Karlee Despres was dominant again as she finished the Saints off with 15 strikeouts in a complete game win. The freshman did allow three earned runs but the Davenport bats picked her up.

Ali Dawson continued to have the hot bat as she came up with the first RBI of the game in the first inning when she drove in Haley Stehouwer. Dawson then came around to score to give DU a 2-0 lead after one.

The Lady Panthers struck again in the bottom of the third when Katie Cornman doubled to left to bring home Stehouwer and Cornman was then brought in by Karlee Despres one batter later on a single to right center. DU would finish off the scoring on a two-run homerun by Nikki Aldrich in the bottom of the sixth bringing home Kristin Miedema.

Haley Stehouwer and Ali Dawson each collected two hits in the game.

Game two started off with the Lady Panthers again taking the early lead as a few Saints errors led to as Nikki Aldrich came around to score on a passed ball. DU did leave the bases loaded though as they went into the second leading 1-0.

After downing the Saints in order in the top of the second, Davenport's bats came alive again as they brought across four runs highlighted by Kristin Miedema's two-run single with two outs.

The Panthers kept pouring it on in the next inning and after a two-run by Haley Stehouwer, Ali Dawson hit a deep homerun to left field to make the score 9-0 for the host team. DU added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth as Dawson picked up her fourth hit and third RBI of the game with a single.

The two wins by Davenport lift the Lady Panthers to 18-17 on the year and 3-9 in WHAC play. They will return home on Tuesday when they welcome Cornerstone to the Christian Recreation Center before hosting Indiana Tech on Wednesday. Both double-headers are set for a 4:00 PM start.
