GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The friendly confines of Patterson Ice Center have treated the D3 hockey team well as they claimed their 3rd straight win at home on Saturday with a 4-2 win over Detroit Mercy. DU will take a 5-3 record into their weekend MCHC series with Lawrence Tech.

After posting back to back wins over Saginaw Valley and UM-Flint at home over the past seven days, DU hosted first year program Detroit Mercy on Saturday. The Panthers fell behind 2-1 after one period, but Chad Ouellette (Windsor, Ontario) continued his stellar play with DU's lone goal in the first 20 minutes.

Head Coach Chris Green led a spirited team back onto the ice in the second period as the Panthers posted two unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead.

Scoring the game tying goal was Sam Waldhart (Walker, Mich.) on assists from Jordan Phillips (Swartz Creek, Mich.) and Mac Worsley (Grand Rapids, Mich.). Shortly after that, DU got what would be the game winner from Waldhart on an assist from Jordan Steger (Caledonia, Mich.).

Putting the final touches on their visitors in the final period, DU got up by two goals when Worsley got his second point of the game on a pass from Michael Stedman (Riverside, Ontario).

Zach Higgins (Courtice, Ontario) picked up the win in net for the Panthers as they will host Lawrence Tech on Friday at 8:00 PM in a very important MCHC matchup. Currently DU is 2-2 in league play after splitting with both Saginaw Valley and Lansing CC.
