Grand Rapids, Mich. - The first home win is in the books at the DU Student Center as the Panthers volleyball team defeated UM Dearborn in four sets (25-22, 23-25, 25-19, 25-13). The win lifts DU to 12-20 on the year and into fifth place alone in the WHAC at 3-7.

After falling in straight sets on Tuesday night to #17 ranked Indiana Tech, DU returned to their home court tonight and took care of Dearborn in four sets. The Panthers offense was on fire in the opening set as they posted 20 kills and hit at a .390 clip. Leading the offense was Megan Vanderhyde's 7 kills on just 12 attempts and Joyce Larioza and Kailey Schultz posted four kills each.

Set two was again dominated by the Panthers for the first 20 points but after leading 21-16, were unable to close and Dearborn fought back for the 25-23 win to even the match at 1-1. DU came out of the long timeout and again controlled most of the play and jumped out to a quick 11-7 lead that forced the Wolves into a timeout. After Dearborn rallied to get within two at 12-10, Davenport again went on an offensive tear scoring 7 of the next 12 points to take conrtrol and went on to post the 25-19 win.

The fourth set was all Davenport from the first point and again posted a high hitting percentage of .276 for the 25-13 win. Highlighting the set was an 18-6 run to end the match 3-1.

Vanderhyde posted a team and match high 18 kills on the night and was followed in double-digit kills by Kailey Schultz (14) and Heather Deal (10).  Kayla Vandermolen posted 49 assists in the match and DU was led on defense by Courtney DePriest with 18 digs.

The Panthers will hit the road for their final non-conference tournament of the year when they take part in the Georgetown (KY) tournament over the weekend. They will return home for a Tuesday night match at 7:00 against Concordia University.
