Senior Night Ends on a Down Note

Purdue Northwest scored 45 seconds into OT for the 1-0 win

CALEDONIA, Mich. - The Davenport men's soccer team played with the ball at their feet most of the night on Friday in the regular season finale against Purdue Northwest. However, the Pride kept the Panthers off the scoreboard and got the one goal they needed in overtime for the 1-0 win. The Panthers (9-6-1, 6-5-1) were playing for the third seed in the upcoming GLIAC Tournament, but instead will be the fourth seed with tonight's loss. The same two teams will face off again in the opening round of the GLIAC Tournament at Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at a time to be determined. It was the first win for the Pride in four tries against the Panthers.

Justin Barragan scored his first goal of the season just 45 seconds into overtime. He struck the ball from about 25 yards out on the right wing and it beat goalkeeper Aaron Orban to the upper left corner. The goal occurred on the fourth shot on goal for Purdue Northwest in the contest. Davenport finished with four shots on net as well and had nine total shots. Brogan Shrimpton had a chance to give Davenport a lead in the first half, but missed just wide left from about eight yards. The Panthers also had a flurry in the second half where Carson Brinks and Nick Keyamo had back-to-back shots on goal in a brief period of time, but both were saved by Bradley Brack. Brack notched his first win in goal for the Pride this season.
