Photo GalleryGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport Women's Tennis team took a firm grip on the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) regular season race with a convincing 7-2 win over visiting Northwestern Ohio on Friday afternoon. In a battle of the No. 18 ranked Panthers and No. 25 ranked Racers, DU won two of three doubles matches and five of six singles to pick up the win. DU will turn their attention to Indiana Tech whom they host on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Davenport saw its winning streak extend to 13 consecutive matches on Friday with a 7-2 triumph of visiting UNOH in a critical WHAC matchup. DU won two of three doubles matches to take control as they got wins from

Alyssa Fuentes at No. 1 – 8-1 as well as
Puck Luttikhuis/
Marcie Kooyers at No. 2 – 8-4.
Then in singles, DU dominated the play by winning five of the six matches with four of those coming in straight sets while only dropping four games in the top three courts. Fuentes (6-0, 6-0), Spiech (6-1, 6-1) and Luttikhuis (6-1, 6-1) sealed the deal for the Panthers and then Davenport got straight set win from
Montserrat Elizondo (6-4, 7-6) and three-set win from
Angelica Woods (2-6, 6-2, 12-10).
Davenport will now host Indiana Tech on Saturday with a chance at claiming at least a share of their third straight conference title.
